What the solid deck buys, and what it costs
Everything under the deck is the same part. Exactly three specifications change, and this pallet is on the losing side of two of them:
- Deck: solid, against the ventilated lattice on the NP-132
- Net weight: 22.49 lb, against 20.28 lb
- Static load: 4,409 lb, against 5,512 lb
Dynamic load, racking load, height, runners, safety rims, fork entry and loading quantities are identical.
Buy the closed deck when the load is small, loose or would fall through a lattice, when the deck has to be wiped down rather than washed out, or when a bagged or shrink-wrapped load needs continuous support. Buy the open deck when you want the drainage, the lighter pallet and the higher static rating.
On the static figure we would rather be plain than tidy: the closed deck is rated lower than the open one, by 1,100 lb, despite carrying more material. Both numbers are stated twice, on each product's specification table and on its datasheet, so neither is a slip. We publish them as stated and are confirming the reason.
