It is built for promotional display positioning at the point of sale, and for small export shipments where a full-size pallet is more than the load needs. At 6.39 lb it is handled by one person, and being a single moulding it has no nails and no splinters to damage goods, packaging or hands.
Empty pallets go back as 4,690 per jumbo trailer and 3,690 per 40 ft high-cube container. That is the number to weigh against a wooden display pallet: return freight on empties is most of the running cost of a display programme, and nesting is what collapses it.
Goods can also stay on the pallet from packing to shop floor, so there is no unloading and no shelf-stacking at the far end.
A display pallet at 2.9 kg is a floor and transit pallet, and these are the two figures that govern it. Both assume an evenly distributed load.
